Just a bunch of folks who got tired of seeing the same boring boxes go up everywhere. We figured there's gotta be a better way to build stuff that actually respects the planet.
Back in 2017, three of us were working at different firms around Vancouver, and we'd meet up for coffee complaining about the same thing - why's everyone still designing like it's 1995? Climate change isn't some distant theory anymore, it's literally happening outside our windows.
So we pooled our savings, rented this tiny office on West Georgia Street (we've since upgraded to something with actual windows), and started Jade Flare Forge. The name? Jade for BC's natural beauty, Flare 'cause we wanted to shake things up, and Forge because we're literally crafting something new here.
Eight years later, we've worked on over 140 projects. Some massive commercial builds, some cozy residential spots, all with the same goal - make it beautiful AND sustainable. Turns out people actually want both.
Not corporate jargon - these are actually the things we argue about over lunch
Every building we design reduces carbon output by an average of 40% compared to standard builds. We track this stuff obsessively.
We'll tell you when your budget doesn't match your vision. No surprises six months in. Client relationships matter more than quick wins.
Green tech evolves fast. We're always testing new materials, attending workshops, making mistakes and fixing them before you see 'em.
We're Vancouver through and through. Our designs respect BC's landscapes, weather patterns, and that unique West Coast vibe.
No rockstars or ninjas here - just experienced architects who care
Co-Founder & Lead Designer
Spent 12 years at big firms before getting fed up with cookie-cutter designs. Now leads our residential projects and won't shut up about passive solar orientation (in a good way).
Co-Founder & Sustainability Director
LEED AP certified before it was trendy. Handles all our green certifications and material sourcing. Knows way too much about insulation R-values.
Co-Founder & Commercial Projects Lead
The one who keeps us organized (barely). Specializes in large-scale commercial builds. Can spot a code violation from across the room.
Senior Associate Architect
Joined us straight outta grad school five years ago. Now runs our landscape integration projects and makes sure our buildings actually fit their surroundings.
Interior Space Architect
Makes sure the inside's as thoughtful as the outside. Obsessed with natural light flow and functional beauty. Probably redesigning your kitchen in her head right now.
Technical Architect
The detail guy. If there's a technical challenge, Thomas'll figure it out. Loves a good engineering problem almost as much as his morning espresso.
We're upfront about timelines, realistic about budgets, and we'll push back if something doesn't make sense environmentally. If you want someone who just says yes to everything, we're probably not your studio. But if you want a building that'll still be relevant in 30 years? Let's talk.
We don't do this work for awards, but it's nice when folks notice.
